Dedication Normandy monument
14-06-2008

Today we dedicated the new Easy Company monument at Brecourt Manor in Ste Marie du Mont, Normandy France in the presence of Herb Suerth, Ed Shames and Bill Maynard. Unfortunately Forrest Guth and Buck Taylor couldn’t make it at the last moment. The middle plaque shows the drawing of Burton 'Pat' Christenson, E-Co veteran. On the top of the middle plaque are 25 bronze stars which represent the 25 KIA’s of E-Company during  Operation Overlord. The both side plaques carry the names of the men who were KIA. We want to thank Jake Powers for providing us with all the correct names, service numbers and dates.  Next to the monument there is an information table on which an overview is given of the E-Company actions during Operation Overlord and more specific the part of E-Company in the Brecourt attack. Christopher J. Anderson wrote the text on the information table that is based on the recount Bill Guarnere wrote for this monument.  A special thanks to Mr. Charles de Vallavieille, owner of Brecourt Manor, who gave permission to build this monument on his land and for being the director of the ceremony. With this monument we are one step closer to accomplishing our goal: To honor our dead in all ways possible; Building of E-Company monuments on the historical battlefields where our brothers fell “ Pictures of the ceremony will be added to the gallery soon.

New monument in Normandy
03-06-2008

Saturday the 14th of June at 14.00 the Men of Easy Company will dedicate, in the presence of a few veterans,  their new monument at Brecourt Manor in Ste-Marie du Mont, Normandy France. This is the third monument dedicated since 2005 in order to memorize every KIA of E-Company during WWII.  The monuments in Belgium and Holland commemorate the KIA’s from the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Market Garden. The Normandy monument will mention the names of the soldiers who were killed in action during Operation Overlord. With this monument we are one step closer to accomplish our goal to remember all our KIA’s nearby the original battlefields.  Thanks to the help of Mr. Charles De Vallavieille of Brecourt Manor and with specials thanks to Jake Powers and Chris Anderson, the Normandy monument will have its own historical value at a for us important historical location. After the dedication we will share the photos of the construction and dedication of this monument in the gallery of our website.

Charles Rhinehart passed away
31-03-2008
We got the news that Charles Edward Rhinehart, passed away. Charles Rhinehart was a member of E-Company and received a bronze star for his actions in the liberation of British soldiers during operation Market Garden. He was a radioman and fought through the whole war with E-Company and later with HQ. We received the news through his daughter Cynthia Case. He was a quiet, strong man that never sought any recognition for what he considered an honor & duty to serve our country. As his daughter said "I am proud of him!"  We didn't have contact with him after the war but he was always in our hearts. He entered into heaven March 31, 2008, at the age of 88 and will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ on April 11, 2008.

We want to express our condolences to his family. We wish them strength in these difficult times.

May he rest in peace.

With sympathy,
The Men of Easy Company

The war, the battlefields changed his life. In 2005 he returned to these same battlefields with his buddies and although it was tough, we noticed that he found his peace. Maxwell was a respected member of our company and a good friend, husband and father. We will miss him!

Bastogne complete again !
23-05-2007

The Sherman tank is back! After months of restoration the Sherman tank is back on his old spot on Place McAuliffe in Bastogne Belgium. This tank, knocked out in December 1944, recalls the sacrifice of all the fighters for the liberation of Bastogne and Belgium. Thanks to the volunteers of the Belgium Army the tank has been brought in a good condition again. They spend hours of searching for the parts they needed for the restoration of the tank.  During a special ceremony, in the presence of veterans who actually were witness of the destruction of the tank in 1944, the Sherman was hoisted back on Place McAuliffe, so that the citizens and visitors of Bastogne can enjoy this tangible heritage of history again.
